Many of you may have heard the negative radio ad that is running on several stations in the 30th District about me. The ad is very misleading and completely false.

The ad states that I have been late paying my property taxes 15 times on my home and over 100 times on other properties. A quick phone call to the Gage County Treasurer’s office confirms that I have NOT been late and I have never paid interest charges on my taxes. Payments postmarked on or before April 30 and August 31 are considered timely. Because of the huge volume of tax receipts, payments are processed over the course of several days and the processing date is indicated. However, the payment of the taxes by the property owner is on time.

I only own land in Gage County and Johnson County and pay all my taxes on time. My taxes go to support our local schools, local governments, and local fire departments. I thank you for letting me visit with you and encourage you to vote Myron Dorn for Legislature on May 15th.

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) _ The chairman of the Gage County Board of Supervisors in southeast Nebraska is running for the Legislature.

Myron Dorn of Adams announced Wednesday he will seek to replace state Sen. Roy Baker of Lincoln, who is retiring at the end of the 2018 session. Baker represents Legislative District 30, which encompasses Gage County and part of Lancaster County, including a piece of Lincoln.

Dorn ran for the Gage County board in 2010 and was re-elected in 2014. He says if elected to the Legislature, he would work to ease pressure on property taxes. He also touted his county’s work on road projects.

Dorn is a registered Republican.

Myron Dorn of Adams, who is chairman of the Gage County Board of Supervisors, announced Wednesday he’ll seek the legislative seat that will be vacated by Sen. Roy Baker of Lincoln at the end of next year.

Dorn, who said he will focus on property tax reduction, is the third announced candidate for the 30th District seat in the nonpartisan Legislature.

Baker announced earlier that he will not seek re-election to a second term.

As a county board member, Dorn said he has centered on roads and economic development issues.

“To move forward, property tax relief must be a priority,” Dorn said.

“My county board experience will be a valuable asset in making tough and necessary decisions in the Legislature,” he said.

“As an elected official, I believe you should treat people with respect and that you should treat people the way you want to be treated.”

Dorn, a lifelong farmer in the Firth and Adams area, is a registered Republican.

The 30th District encompasses southwest Lincoln, southeastern Lancaster County and Gage County.
